I saw your comment on the Beer Philosopher's wife's blog about getting your girlfriend into beer and thought I'd put in my two cents, being a "fem-aler" myself. I'd say the best way to introduce a girl into beer is gradually, through the styles that she likes. It's easy to find similar styles or ones that combine different fruits and flavors together. The key is not to expect a gal to like exactly what you do - I'm a beer lover and blogger but still can't finish a Guiness because of its bitterness - just not my taste. So, I'd say expand on what she likes - even if they're not your favorites. There are plenty of beer styles to go around! Also, making beer tasting an event that friends can go to and have fun with also helps. If other friends or couples are willing to try things together and talk about them, it makes it easier for her to have an in.

Philosophy student, huh? That's awesome.

I got my Masters in Philosophy from Michigan. While it never got me a job as a Philosopher, studying the great philosophers has had a profound impact on... well, pretty much everything about me.

Cheers!

I'm sorry to hear that. Heartbreak is one of the most difficult things to get through. Before I met Shawn, I was together with my ex for seven years. That was a brutal breakup. I met Shawn one year later. Keep your chin up----- things always happen for a reason.

Any luck getting your girl to enjoy darker beers? I just remembered something . . .. . I didn't start enjoying dark beers until after my pregnancy . .. . go figure!
