Profile

Favorite beer styles:
Porters, Stouts, ESBs, Kolsch, Belgian Strong ales, IPAs and American ambers mostly but I'll try any beer once. Recently getting into the Imperial porters and stouts. Yes - I finally love IPAs!
Favorite Craft breweries:
Breckenridge Brewery, Avery Brewing Company, Dogfish Head, Left Hand Brewing, Oskar Blues, New Belgium, Odells Brewing, Boston Beer Co, Bell's Brewing. Heck, every small brewery makes something good.
Who am I?:
I'm another 49 year old beer geek who is fermentedly challenged. I'm a long time corporate IT cubicle slave who lives for his ale after a hard day on the keyboard. Born in Michigan but living now in Greeley Colorado for the last 25 years. Love to taste as many craft beers as I can get my hands on. Hope to see some of you at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver this year. I first homebrewed back in the late 90's but got lazy and just started buying all those great craft beers. Looking to get back into home brewing again soon. @ChipperDave on twitter.

Hidden Brewery in Colorado getting attention

I posted an article on the examiner.com/denver site today that spotlights a fairly new start-up brewery in Colorado called the Crabtree Brewing Company. Their beers are only sold in Colorado currently but they are planning to expand to other states in the not so distant future. Check out this hidden gem at the… Continue

Sam Adams Beer Dinner 5-15-2008 Recap

Hope all of you enjoyed American Craft Beer Week as I did. I had the golden opportunity to attend the Samuel Adams Beer Dinner at the Rioja restaurant in downtown Denver on Thursday night. Best of all - it was FREE! I entered in a contest sponsored by Samuel Adams to their newsletter subscribers and was shocked when they told me I had won. I grabbed two friends (and 1 extra ticket) and headed down to Denver for a delicious 3-course meal. Got to meet brewer Bob Cannon from Boston Beer. Pictures,… Continue

I can finally say I love IPAs!

Thanks to the encouragement of many of you here on Aleuminati, I've been trying many IPAs over the last month or so and I can now say with confidence that I LOVE IPAs! I had my first Dogfish Head 90-minute Imperial IPA tonight and I just loved it! I wrote up a raving review of it tonight on my main blog. Looking forward to tasting more like this in the future.

Personal Tour of Rock Bottom Brewery Loveland

Just had a great visit to one of the newer breweries in Northern Colorado. This one was at the recently opened Rock Bottom Brewery and restaurant in the Centerra shopping complex in Loveland, Colorado. I personally talked with their Brewmaster and got to sample 11 different beers! For a quick summary and review see the blog entry.

Ode to Chimay Blue

I had the special treat to sample a bottle of Chimay (Blue) Grande Reserve this weekend. This is a fine example of a Trappist Belgian Strong Dark Ale. If you've never had the chance to try one of these beers you owe it to yourself to buy one. Read more of my review on my blog.

Thanks for the welcome. I do enjoy other beer than the dark stuff. But Porter just goes down so nicely anytime of the year. But i like a good Real Ale in the summertime and I have a double IPA on dry hopping now, and a light Berliner Weisse in primary.

No, the name is just an acronym, and a play on my real name.
I WILL have to give a try to any nectar sharing my name, though ;-))

Sounds like ya dodged a bullet... literally. Awesome. and Fran and I didn't get to Beaver Creek. We were just too burned out (posted about why this morning on my blog).

The intention of that comment was a little joke, you'll note that half my pictures have my fridge as the backdrop. Others have a white wall. It wasn't until the last two pics (at home) that I even attempted a background.

Hope you aren't mad, I was trying to pick on myself more than you.

Boston Beer company really knows how to throw a beer dinner. I attended their Denver Beer Dinner last night as part of the American Craft Beer Week festivities. I will be writing up a complete summary of the event on my blog as soon as I get off work tonight. All I can say is - wow that was some awesome food and some tasty beers! More later...
