The Aleuminati-the not so secret society of better beer drinkers

The Beer Philosopher

Give it to me straight ... I can take it!

Moment of truth time ...

Tell me what is best about the Aleuminati site and tell me what is worst about the site.

As we grow (and we've done a lot of that ...) it's important that I make sure the site is always interesting; always relevant. In addition to the question above, please feel free to share tips or ideas you think might make the site even better. As I've said elsewhere, I'm not looking to be another ratebeer.com or beeradvocate.com - they do fine at being themselves - but I do want to make the Aleuminati a place that both current members and interested visitors will want to return to often!

For that, I need your help! Suggest away ...

Love that idea. I'll look into it and see what I can find ...

I'm not sure if someone mentioned this already.

I added links back to my profile from my blog. Unfortunately, you can't see the profile page from the outside world. I'm not sure if I am doing it wrong, or if it is something outside of your control. It would be nice for people to see the profile pages without being a member, so they could see what the group was like before joining.

Another thing that might help drive traffic to your site is if all the members gave Aleuminati a thumbs up on StumbleUpon

http://www.stumbleupon.com/url/aleuminati.ning.com/

That will drive massive temporary traffic, and maybe get another 10% increase in members.

Excellent idea about stumbleupon, Deege! I appreciate it!

As far as making the profile viewable to the "public" without being a member ... I can do that, but unfortunately this opens the entire site to the public (rather than just the homepage). This might not be a bad thing, of course, but I thought limiting what is viewable without registering might drive people to register ... ... it is very possibly, though, that the opposite is the case now that I think about it. I'm willing to "open up" the site if you guys think this would be more beneficial/convenient for you ... ???

Let me know your thoughts ... I can make this change instantaneously.

Shawn: It's up to you about opening it up. You might want to take a vote on it.

Everyone else: As far as the SU stumbles, make sure you leave a review when you give a thumbs up. It carries more weight.

It would be great if the video section would support .mp4 files. I hate what youtube does to the quality of our videos.

This is another thing I can suggest to the developers. I'll let you know what I find out! Thanks for the suggestion and keep up the great work!

Thanks and you keep up the great work too. Our Seatte tasting is set for April 27 if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

Would love to be there, but don't think it's in the stars for this month ... the wife and I will be planning a trip out to Cali around mid-summer, though. You never know! ;)

Let us know if you make it out. We're two hours south of SF.

I think most forums have a register feature that require you to be a member to view and read. It helps keep out trolls.

I'm 20 minutes south!
