The Aleuminati - the not so secret society of better beer

Wort splicing

Hey gang. Just posted a little something something in regards to trying to maximize my brew day by divvying up a 10-gallon mash into two distinctly different 5-gallon brews. Any of you play with techniques like the one I've come to call "7-10 split" brewing, partgyle brewing, or the like? I'd love to hear your ideas, because frankly, as much as I love to play the homebrew card, there are only so many hours in the week...

And yeah, this is that hefeweizen I mentioned making a while back. We shall see...

Hmm.. I almost tried creating a small beer this weekend, but ran out of time. I haven't done it before but I was planning on creating a small beer from my tripel recipe since it takes so much grain. Thought it would be a good candidate to attempt this.

Aka a "single"? Yeah, I've wanted to do this as well, especially since you can't actually find any real abbey-style table beers anywhere outside of Europe. (Not to mention school cafeterias.)

If you experiment with it next time you brew your tripel, let me know how it works out!

The tripel will most likely be the next beer I make, and I will plan to make a single as well.

I think that will fill every keg I own after that. I just made an "Old Speckled Hen" clone for a friend this weekend. Now to start drinking! :)

PS - Here's the first follow-up on what's likely to be an, um, interesting pair of beers. Ahem.
