Okay folks, today I am going to provide for you a public service. I think i have figured out AB/In Bev’s recipies to two of their famous beers and I am going to share them with you at no cost. This way all of you can enjoy the quality beer of AB/In Bev at a fraction of the cost. So without further ado, let’s get our chef hats on.

Bud Light Lime

step 1: Open 12oz bottle of Bud Light

step 2: Pour 3oz of bottle into a standard 16oz pint glass

step 3: Fill remainder of glass with Rose’s Sweetened Lime Juice

There you have it! That is all there is to it. This beer is nothing but limr juice flavor. It is sweeter and fruiter than most mixed drinks I have had in my life. I know that some beers it is okay and even needed to add a lime slice to help “enhance” the flavor. This is like adding a dozen limes and about a lb of sugar to each beer. I know that college kids srink a lot but it doesn’t mean its good. This is not a beer, this is an attempt for fraternities to be able to score with all the women in the world.

Bud Light Golden Wheat

step 1: Open 12oz bottle of Shock Top

step 2: Pour 3oz of bottle into a standard 16oz pint glass

step 3: Fill remainder of glass with water

Voila!! Now you have Golden Wheat. Shock Top was ABs attempt at making an unfiltered wheat at the point where craft and micro breweries where making them very popular, especially that of Blue Moon. Shock Top goes a little far in the orangeness and spices though, making it more of a clove/nutmeg/orange beer than a full out unfiltered wheat. I am assuming that as the popularity of wheat beers kept increasing that AB/In Bev thought that many people didn’t realize that Shock Top was one. Therefore they created Bud Light Golden Wheat. This is a complete bastardization of a wheat beer. It is just the Shock Top watered down. The alcohol percentage is even less at %4.6 I believe. AB/In Bev realizes that whenever they put the words Bud Light on a label, it sells like crazy. It has worked here with these two beers. They are great at making beers that will sell to their own demographic. They don’t care that they freely use words like “craft” and “unfiltered wheat” and “taste” and “flavor” just to sell a new beer to the masses that have been drinking Bud Light for years.

If you want to try a real unfiltered wheat, one with flavor, and you are in the St. Louis region, try a Boulevard or a Schlafly. Both those are excellent examples of what an unfiltered wheat is supposed to taste like. If you aren’t in the region try a Pyramid or a Widmer. Two more excellent examples, the Pyramid being, to me, a definitive unfiltered wheat.

Maybe AB/In Bev will put Bud Light on some other things just to sell them next like cola or cleaning supplies, it seems to work damn well with beer.

In memory of Reading Rainbow, “… but don’t take my word for it”

Cheers!
