Just enjoyed 22 ounces of Ninkasi's Oatis Oatmeal Stout tonight, which paired beautifully with my own homemade burgers and fries! It also, believe it or not, it tasted amazing with the sugar cookie I had after dinner!
Each time I eat, I strive hard to pair a beer that I have on hand to the food I'm about to enjoy, but I especially love it when I get surprised with either an amazing pairing with a sweet food item or a new taste altogether that is generated. Another example is when I was dining out and sharing a Grand Teton Pursuit of Hoppiness Red Ale with a buddy of mine. As soon as we dug into the Caesar Salad we were served, and after each of us took a sip of our beer, we suddenly looked at each other, and said, almost in perfect unison, "Did you notice how the beer gives the salad a much more complex flavor?" It was a fun and delicious discovery!
[Also, just to let you know, we also rounded out the meal that evening with a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout that just blew the doors off the flavors and satisfaction of that meal.]
Hopefully my future pairings will be as good as tonight's!
