I wish MY girlfriend liked beer... How to Introduce Your Significant Other to the World of Craft Beer

When I mention that I'm a beer critic, beer reviewer or beer blogger, or I just happen to saddle up to a barstool and order myself a deep, dark oatmeal stout, I get a few reactions. Usually people ask me about what I do, why I got into it. And then, a lot of guys say the following,

"That's so cool. I wish my girlfriend liked beer."

Even though women make up at least 25% of the craft beer market share, it seems that most men I meet who are avid beer drinkers are still not sharing their life with craft beer drinking significant others. But it doesn't have to be that way.

geez mike, inbetween bud and bud light there was a vast untapped market of beer drinkers... until bud select came along.

I introduced my now-husband to beer. I need to write an article on how to get your boyfriend to drink (good) beer!

Hummm this is interesting. I have dated women that were very "anti" beer and it never bothered me much. (except the bar tabs!) My current "love of my life" is actually quite into beer and exploring different beers. We have two establishments here in Connecticut that have very good selections of different beers. We make sure we try something different each time we go. As a matter of fact we are scheduled to go to the GingerMan in South Norwalk tonight. She is having a rough day at work right now and I am talking her through it was promises of delicious beer later. All in all I think that is women got over that "men beer drinker" stigma and tried new things they would be pleasantly surprised.
