Christmas in July ... or Drinking Non-Seasonally.

In keeping with the spirit of the theme for this month's Session, hosted by Rob over at Pfiff!, I have decided to do several things in an unorthodox manner. First, I waited until today (July 5th) to post my contribution. Sorry to everyone who, I know, was waiting with bated breath for me to chime in (not). Admittedly it isn't so much that I decided to do it this way, but this little event called… Continue

To Your Health!

Just posted a piece on beer and health on beerphilosopher.com - actually it's a link to two articles I found very interesting from mainstream publications. One is from NewsMax.com; the other is from Forbes.com.

Go to my article here and you'll find the links to the other… Continue

What Can Brown Do For You?

Just posted a review of an incredible Brown Ale on beerphilosopher.com - Dogfish Head Indian Brown Ale is not your typical boring boring brown! Read the entire article here.

Come back and let me know what you think of this beer and about brown ales in general,… Continue

Beer Newbies ... or Brewbies!

Though the majority of our Aleuminati brethren are erudite beer scholars obviously, there may be a few among us who are relatively new to better beer and could use a crash coarse in serious beer geekdom. If you are such an individual, please allow me to direct you to a couple of resources I posted months ago on other sites:

This is an article I posted on… Continue

The Aleuminati Beer Council

So here's an idea I"ve been mulling around for a while. Let me know if you guys think it would be a fun idea, and more specifically if you'd be interested in participating. By the same token, let me know if you think it is lame and to keep my ideas to myself from now on ...!

What if we did an official Aleuminati Beer Council ( the ABC, of course ... ), convening virtually either once a quarter or once a month right here on the Aleuminati to collectively review and… Continue

The Aleuminati Turns 2 Weeks Old ... My, Aren't We Getting Big!

Guess what? The Aleuminati is two weeks old now if I’ve done my math correctly! I believe I started sending out the first handful of invitations during the first full week of February – somewhere around the 6th or 7th. Today is the 20th of the month and we’re already at 63 members as of right now. New members seem to be joining every day - sometimes several every day. I honestly had no idea when I slapped my initial “Aleuminati”… Continue

My Beer is turning Japanese ... I really think so.

Just posted an article about Japanese craft beers on beerphilosopher.com, in case you're not RSS'n it or getting the email updates from the site. Let me know if you've tried any of the Hitachino Nest beers ...

Beer Bliss

Okay, I'm planning to write an entire post about this on beerphilospher.com, complete with review, but I just had to share with my Aleuminati brethren ... I had one of my absolute favorite beers in the universe last night - a Rochefort 10 (quadrupel).

If this beer isn't approaching brewing perfection, I just don't know what beer is ... I realize that Westvleteren 12 gets all the… Continue

Beer Review - Brouwerij Verhaeghe Duchesse De Bourgogne

I love sour beers. Admittedly, they’re not for everyone but the puckering complexity of a good spontaneously-fermented ale is a thing of beauty to me. The musty nose, full of earthy goodness, and a palate replete with the tart flavors of ripe fruit, cider, and herbal notes is a singular experience. I’ll be the first to admit this experience isn’t for everyone and I’d wager that some beer drinkers, unaware of the intentionality of the unique… Continue
