Hope all of you are enjoying American Craft Beer Week as I am. I had the golden opportunity to attend the Samuel Adams Beer Dinner at the Rioja restaurant in downtown Denver on Thursday night. Best of all - it was FREE! I entered in a contest sponsored by Samuel Adams to their newsletter subscribers and was shocked when they told me I had won. I grabbed two friends (and 1 extra ticket) and headed down to Denver for a delicious 3-course meal. Pictures, recap and a video on my…

There certainly are a number of things to consider when tasting a new beer - color, clarity, head, taste and finish all come to mind, but it seems a novice beer collector like me needs to be aware of another, sometimes more important aspect of the tasting process as well. I call it Setting and Circumstance. I expounded on the topic (perhaps to excess) at Beer Rant but feel it's important and (hopefully) thought-provoking enough to raise here at Aleuminati as well.
The
environment in whic…

It's good to be back at the Aleuminati site. Please forgive our recent absence, we've been trying tirelessly to get our show picked up or sponsored in order to make it possible to bring you a show that is equal in quality and taste to the phenomenal beer we all enjoy.
Step 1 in this journey is going to be our documentary of the Brewer's Association event: SAVOR.

Hi guys;
From time to time I get products in such shot supply that I do not put them up on my website for general access because I have thousands of customers and if only 4 people end up getting the product it pisses off 400 or 500 because they did not get any. One such product…

Following some discussion about possible beer trades, I managed to get out to a couple of the local specialty shops here in north Phoenix and found a few local brews generally available as well as some craft beers from the western U.S. (Colorado, New Mexico and California)
And, since I can't very well offer to trade stuff that I myself have not tried, I picked up the following Arizona beers:
Four Peaks Brewing 8th Street Ale (English Style Pale Ale), Tempe, Arizona

I'm a firm believer in sharing potential homebrew secrets between friends and fellow brewers. I can understand commercial brewers guarding their secrets and taking them to the grave but in the homebrew world we are all in this for enjoyment and increasing our knowledge. None of us are in the market to make money... well in Australia it is illegal to do so anyway.
So it is with great astonishment I was confronted again today by another website owner not wanting to share his recipe after bragging…

At the suggestion of a friend, I tried Fraoch Heather Ale. This beer is a bit different than most beers because the beer uses heather to bitter the beer instead of hops, but no so different that the beer is not familiar. If you're looking for a "hop recession proof" beer, I'd give this one a try. I'm going to try to find a recipe for it too! You can
read more about it on my site.

If you have seen these kits in your LHBS and wondered if they are any good, I wrote
a review about the ktis. The short story is that it produces good beer, but the one I tried didn't "wow" me. If you are looking to try homebrewing, but don't want to be bothered with all the boiling and equipment, these are a great way to go. I'll probably try others over the summer to see how they are.

Aleuminati Alechemists. It's destined to be
the place to steal each other's recipes, pillage each other's hops rations, and make fun of each other's goofy labels. The possibilities are nearly endless.
