I just read your two latest blog posts, (through rss feed, can't get to the actual site while at work) and the first was about beer by mail, the second you mention you were at midway airport.

There's a liquor store, practically across the street from Midway that will ship beer. Archer Liquors. http://web.mac.com/archerliquors/ArcherLiquors/Home.html

They have a decent selection of midwest beers including Great Lakes; 3 Floyds; Two Brothers; Dark Horse; Goose Island...

So, I thought I'd pass that on.

I was up there last fall. And I do remember that the beer seemed fairly hot (spicy) to me. Will have to look up my notes. Originally, and I;m talking back in the late 80s, it had (to me) great balance with the green chiles acting like hops. The only other green chile at beer was from Cave Creek? in Arizona and it was pure heat, burned the taste buds away.

Sometimes it is good. Sometimes it seems muddy, vegetal. Could be a freshness thing.

But Wanda's Green Chile Stew is always great (not something to drink with the ale - need some sweetness to balance the heat).

Bill - I've had Eskes Green Chile many times. Great to have there fresh.

Bottled, say for a competition (and I've judged it blind in our State Fair), and it looses a lot.

The Wellhead in Artesia made a great green chile ale a few years ago. I don't think it is a regular.
