Deschutes Hop Henge Experimental IPA

Just had the Hop Henge with lunch today. Impressed with how balanced this beer is. IBUs are listed at 95, but the malt really balances it out (yet the sweetness of the beer seems quite subtle to me) to create a smooth yet bitter beer. At 9% the beer has little trace of alcohol. So far Deschutes deserves their reputation.See More

Canada's Best Session Beer IMO

Polished off a 6 pack of Mill Street Tankhouse Ale last night. Nothing too wild or interesting about it just one damn good session beer. Better in the bottle than on tap which usually isn't the case.

Les Trois Mousquetaires Kellebier

Just opened up a 26oz bottle of Les Trois Mousquetaires Kellerbier. I guess it is supposed to be a Non-Filtered Pilsner from Quebec. No doubt it uses Pilsner Malts but the hops seem to be ramped up a notch when compared with other Pilsners. Malt has a really well rounded flavor with a medium hop finish. I usually don't drink pilsners, but this one has a bit more flavor and strength to it.

Just popped open a Trappistes Rochefort 10

Just opened up at Trappistes Rochefort 10, hearing that it was the best one of of the 3 Rochefort beers from the Belgian Trappist style however I find you could pick more flavor complexity in the the 6 and 8. It seems like the alcohol at 11.3% really starts to dominate the flavor of the beer. The No. 6 with 7.5% and the No.8 with 9.2% are very good. All 3 beers have the same flavor characteristics (spice, fruit, caramel, etc..) just getting progressively stronger as you go up. But like I said…See More

S.W. Smith replied to Christine's discussion 'Ancient Beer Recipies'
Ya I have not had the opportunity to try any Dogfish Head Brews, it is a lot easier to get West Coast beers where I live then East Coast. When I discovered that DFH was experimental to that extent, I was very impressed. My understanding from their…
