I use the plastic tube the hydrometer came in, you can also buy a larger glass hydrometer tube for it. I just fill the tube until the hydrometer floats. To get the sample you can use a wine thief or I just use a turkey baster.

Dundee Beer - Assortment Pack

I am always skeptical of inexpensive 12-packs and even more so about "assortment" packs. I was at my local market (Market Street in N. Dallas) and have seen the Dundee pack for some time, but I typically skip it for a trusted IPA or amber ale.
