What was the most recent dark brew you had? I've been enjoying Samuel Smith's Imperial Russian Stouts, Oatmeal Stouts and a Taddy Porter over the past week or so.

I've got Founder's Breakfast Stout, swiped from my Uncle Steve's Thanksgiving day stash. It's a tough beer pairing. So yummy on its own, with its coffee notes... but what to eat alongside. Ideas?
Wonderful time of year for dark beers. Opened a bottle of 2007 Deschutes Abyss tonight, hoping to find some 09 this week. Had my first Founder's Breakfast stout as a post Thanksgiving beverage, lovely.
My latest dark brew love affair has been with Oscar Blues Ten Fidy. I even made chili with it. Yeah, I heart craft beer in cans :) Especially, the 10% Imperial Stouts (in cans).

Butternut's Moo Thunder Stout. It had a nice thick head, warm roasted coffee and malt aromas, and the finish had hints of chocolate. Best part? It comes in a simple 120z can!!! Classic.
Mad River Scotch Porter- peat, smoke, malty sweetness, creamy goodness in a glass. Light burnt chocolate/coffee-ish. An easy drinker & highly enjoyed!

Ashtray Heart by Evil Twin.

In addition, I highly recommend the barrel-aged Black Hole series by Mikkeller. Aging in various sorts of barrels adds some interesting flavors to this delicious Imperial Stout!
