Reuben - I just finished drinking my first batch and after I bottled it I let it sit as well. When I first bottled, it was a little cloudy and then after a few days it was clear with a layer of white powder looking sediment at the bottom of the bottle. As for the half recipe question I originally had the Mr Beer kit and was looking into smaller batches and a lot of what I was told was to just use half the ingredients to make a half batch.

There is a recipe I would like to try, but I would like to make only a half batch. Will it work to simply half the ingredients like you would with a typical food recipe?

I wouldn't put more than one or two beers in. Eight days might be enough, especially if the final ABV was fairly low. It can be awfully hard to be patient though.

Quick question for anyone checking this group: My first brew was bottled on Saturday morning and is in a cool, dry place for now. I expect to place in a fridge around Sunday. Is this good and what should I expect to see in the bottles over the next few days.

After 3 days, I'm starting to see sediment in the bottom of a few bottles.

Shawn - Thanks for the feedback. I hope that experienced home brewers will chime in with their early experiences.

Great group idea! Hopefully you won't mind a few of us who have been brewing a while chiming in where appropriate! Brew on!
