Anybody out there ever try mixing yeasts? I just bottled a beer that I fermented with a mixture of lager and ale yeasts. Blew the top off the fermenter. I have never had a beer froth like that! It tasted pretty good going into the bottle. Details at: www.belgianmare.blogspot.com

Anyone else try something like this?

Sounds like an interesting experiment. The closest I've done to this is adding champagne yeast to finish out a Belgian strong but that's a pretty standard process. I look forward to hearing how it turns out.
F.Y.I I haven't read it yet but there is an article in the new Brew Your Own about mixing yeasts.
Great! I just let my subscription lapse!
Finally read the article, it was a homebrewer experiment using different dry ale yeasts. Interesting but not completely applicable or as interesting as what you're doing.
I'm actually having to mix yeasts but not really by choice. While trying to get my wort to cool my brew buddy went to the brew house to clean up. He cleaned up the pan where I was priming my British Ale yeast. He found a packet of dry nothing fancy yeast that we pitched to get things going while I got another shipment of British Ale yeast on the way. Hopefully the flavor turns out OK.
