The Aleuminati-the not so secret society of better beer drinkers

The only thing that's mysterious is why people would drink cheap, fizzy beer.

Hello all,
I just acquired a couple of straight sided kegs that I'm planning on converting to larger brew kettles. I'm wondering if anybody has a good tip on cutting a clean 12" hole in the top. Does anybody have experience with this conversion? Any tips would be appreciated...
Thanks,
Jake.

A friend made a jig from wood to hold a die grinder. He found a 2"hole saw fits the keg neck perfectly and can be used as the axis. Cut a board with a small hole in the middle, put it over the shaft of the hole saw and mount the die grinder to the end of the board. You can then swing the grinder in a perfect circle around the keg of the keg. Adjust the position of the grinder to get 12" hole It's too hard to cut a clean circle with a recipracating saw, and a torch leaves a rough edge that will take a lot of cleanup. The die grinder works the best.
