Beer Tax Increase - Here We Go Again

Why do politicians think that brewers and beer drinkers can bail them out of their budgetary woes? It frustrates the hell out of me especially when they try to claim that their higher taxes will solve problems related to drunk driving and binge drinking.

What is most outrageous about the alcohol taxes, one of our reps in California keeps reintroducing one, is the magnitude of the increases, oftentimes 1000% or more. It's seems it's most likely a front for neo-prohibitionists that want to take away our ability to enjoy alcohol responsibly. And lately the bills seem to be focused on beer alone, as if alcoholics and drunk drivers drink only beer.
