The Aleuminati-the not so secret society of better beer drinkers

The only thing that's mysterious is why people would drink cheap, fizzy beer.

I feel like it's time to start talking about what Aleumination batch #3 is going to be, I know I'm anxious to get going on something. Any ideas? Since we've recently passed the "unofficial" start of summer my thoughts tend towards easy drinking, thirst quenching ales. How about a saison? Plenty of opportunities for experimentation, accessible to the novice, and very tolerant of summer temperatures during fermentation. Just my opening thoughts. Let us know what you think? Other ideas?

I just posted the recipes for the first two batches in a seperate discussion called Aleumination Ale Recipes in the Alechemists group. Let me know if you have any questions.

Looking at the responses how about we do something like this. I really like the idea of doing something easy drinking for the summer and I love the idea of a blind recipe, so how bout something along these lines. We limit the upper ABV to something sessionable, below 4.5-5% and a requirement that some of the grain bill include wheat. From there you let the individual brewer follow there muse, an all-American wheat, a wit , a hefeweizen, or a highly-hopped brett-fermented saison.

So you want to really do it blind, or should we each post our recipes as we generate them? I wonder if there's some way we could help folks who want to play along but have yet to write their own recipes...

That thought had occurred to me also, we could each post our recipes or maybe put up a general recipe with options and general guidelines listed. The other question I had is how many restrictions do we want to place on the recipe, number of grain varieties, IBU levels, etc?

And "The Insatiator" sounds great, makes me wonder when we're going to run out of I-tor names.

Here's an idea.

Lets NOT make batch after batch using the same yeast that we've shipped to each other, generation after generation just so that we can all it the Incestuator!

I'm OK with setting a base recipe if you like, or even just suggesting malts or base grains like Wheat are included. But everything else (Spices, yeast, or Gravity) would be brewers choice or blind if you will. For those that would like help, we can all pitch in and give suggestions.

"The Inadvocatetor" :P
