The Aleuminati-the not so secret society of better beer drinkers

The only thing that's mysterious is why people would drink cheap, fizzy beer.

I know this seems to be way early to be talking about this but I'm hoping to go to this years AHA National Conference in Oakland next June and I was wondering is any of the Alechemists had an inkling to go.

An inkling, yes. But with a baby due in July (just recently discovered this fact) it isn't lookin' good for the 'ol BP.

Would love to go, though.

1 - CONGRATULATIONS!

2 - This just means you *have* to make a NorCal trip in the spring. You know, before it's too late...

3 - Anybody been to any of the previous AHA conferences? Worth it? Fun?

This would be my first if I make it, sounds like it should be fun.

I am thinking about it also but I am expecting a baby in January so I will have to see how finances play out.

Too early to tell. The economy and travel costs will probably dictate everything for me next year. Grats to the pending new fathers too btw! Would love to go eventually. I was so close to going to Cincy this year but those plans fell through.

I went to the Cincinnati conference this year. It was by far the most enjoyable beer event I've been to. Granted, I haven't been to GABF, but this was great.

First off they had a "Hospitality Suite" which was open from 10:00am on that served rotating homebrews from participating clubs. Then, you also have all of the seminars which I didn't go to but everyone really enjoyed (I just paid for the Social Package). To top it off, there are basically 2 beer festivals: one with professional breweries and the other all homebrew clubs. Club night was simply amazing. You'll never get the variety of beer styles in one place as you do there. It's a wild night. People roaming the room with beer samples from strange dispensers, clubs with various, wild themes...just a great time.

That was my first AHA Conference and I'd really like to go again. Not sure if next year will work, though. I'm due to get married and we're not sure what the plans are yet. You can be sure that in the San Fran area, there will be lots of beer activities going on the entire weekend.

I got my hotel today. They are sold out at the actual conference hotel. So if you are thinking about going you better book or you may be staying in San Fran. I am going to have people send me for my Birthday. Its in may but close enough.

I have been to one in the past. it was in Vegas a few years ago. I have been looking forward to another West Coast venue ever since. We had a blast. I anticipate another one this year. The Bay Area is a GREAT beer region. With the BART. All locations are reachable. Now I am just waiting for an AHA recruiting Event at Stone World Bistro to sign up.

Has anyone made any plans to attend its less then 2 weeks away. If anyone is going and wouldn't mind a tag along I would be interested in meeting up with some Aleuminati members for dinner or lunch. I am going to be attending by myself so it would be cool to meet up with some online friends. If you are attending and want to meet up PM me and I can give you my contact info.

I'd be interested in connecting with anyone who's coming into town for this. We're not attending the conference, but we're local. Send a note.
