The Aleuminati-the not so secret society of better beer drinkers

The only thing that's mysterious is why people would drink cheap, fizzy beer.

A place for jotting down what you just picked up at the liquor store.

Women shop for shoes and clothes, men shop for beer. At least I do. I do all my shopping for anything not beer online, or Fran gets it for me. Otherwise... there ain't no shoppin', there's just buyin. I only shop for beer.

So start scribblin'!

Meat and I got to have a bottle of the Alaskan smoked porter this past summer. A person we work with went on vacation on an alaskan cruise, and we gave her $20 to try and get a bottle and she was nice enough to bring us back one.

Was just at friar tucks on friday with meat and saw the bottles of oak aged and laughed.

It's a bbq weekend, kids. A sixer of Warsteiner and a sixer of Dead Guy. Oh, and one of these... Happy Easter (and spring break, for those of you slaving away in education) to all y'all.

Time for a mid-week beer run. I decided to get a wide range of brews this time around. Here is what I picked up.

Alaskan Summer Ale - my 2nd Alaskan brew in a week.
Chimay (blue label) Grande Reserve - trappist ale treat!
Left Hand Snow Bound Winter Ale - saving it for the last snow fall of the year
Bristol Brewing Laughing Lab Scottish Ale - gotta try my 1st Bristol.

Quite the mix. It was hot today and I already cracked open the 22oz Alaskan Summer Ale. I wrote up my review on the blog. Going camping this weekend and wanted to sip some brews before heading into the woods.

how do you know which is the last snowfall of the year?

Reply to This

The last snowfall of the year typically happens in April which is the 3rd most snowiest month in Colorado. it can come at any time. Take today for example. it was 75 degrees here yesterday but this morning it was snowing and in the upper 20s. Go figure. This is typical Colorado. So if i see a decent snow in early April then that's what I'll call the last snowfall of the year. Then it's time to drink more of the lighter colored beers until the 1st snowfall of the year, which is usually around late September or early October.

This weeks beer run included the following brews:

Bitch Creek ESB Ale - Grand Teton Brewing Co. - 6-pack
Rogue Dead Guy Ale - 22oz bomber
Colorado Kolsch Ale - Steamworks Brewing Co - 22oz bomber
Salvation (Belgian) from Avery

Still haven't opened up that Chimay (Blue) from last week. That's going to be opened this weekend though!

Glad this little scratch pad of beer runs has become so popular!

Okey dokey, in preparation for an impromptu birthday celebratory BBQ tonight I swung by and picked up:

6er of New Belgium Abbey
6er of New Belgium Trippel
6er of Breckenridge Pandora's Bock (this has just become one of my fave beers)
6er of Widmer Hefe
6er of Hacker-Pschorr Weiss Dark
Two 1 pint 9 oz bottles of Franziskaner Dunkel

6er of Blue Moon (ALL of which went into a boiling pot of taters to make beer mashed taters, and once you have beer mashed taters there ain't no goin' back to regular mashed taters!)

6er of Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale (one of which is going up inside a chicken to make lip smacking, mouth waterin' BBQ beer chicken, and once you have beer chicken there ain't no goin' back to regular chicken!)

Tomorrow... Resurrection Mary's (and yes, that term is trademarked, so leave it be) - our version of the world's greatest hangover remedy - Bloody Mary. ;)
