Trying: Dominion Oktoberfest for first time. From Old Dominion Brewing, Ashburn, Virginia (close to Dulles Airport) born in 1989.
Not bad, I'd have it again. Light tan head, dirty carmel color, nose of dark honey, I disagree with some, as I think it's not overly sweet. Malty spice, good Germanic bite with carmel as expected for the season. Still my favorite Oktoberfest is Spaten Oktoberfest.
Get it while you can ... Old Dominion was sold to "Coastal Brewing" - a partnership between Fordham and Anheuser-Busch in 2007. The company recently announced the impending closing of the brewery's pub and, rumor has it, there is talk of discontinuing the Old Dominion operation altogether. Sad for a craft beer company with a 20+ year history.
